Divine Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav – CM Atlanta & Alpharetta

Chinmaya Gurukul and Chinmaya Niketan joyfully celebrated the Amrit Mahotsav on April 19th with a grand Samashti Gita Chanting of the 15th Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. This sacred event marked the culmination of months of dedicated effort by a committed team of sevaks from both centers. From venue coordination and invitations to social media outreach and altar decoration, every detail was thoughtfully planned and executed with precision.

As the day approached, registrations grew to 2000+ participants, bringing both excitement and the need for meticulous logistical planning—from parking arrangements to book stalls and booths — ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for all.

Distinguished guests, including representatives from prominent Hindu organizations in Atlanta such as Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Hindu Temple of Atlanta, and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, were invited to grace the occasion.

Preparations began early in the day, with volunteers arriving by 9:00 am to transform a high school basketball court into a serene and sacred space. By 12:30 pm, every station was ready. The altar, adorned with beautiful flowers, radiated divinity, with Bhagwan Krishna’s serene presence welcoming all for the collective chanting. As participants arrived, they were warmly received by smiling JCHYKs and sevaks, and guided to their seats—on the floor or in the bleachers—based on their needs. Special seating was arranged for dignitaries, performers, and the Vedanta teachers and Brahmacharinis from both centers.

The program began with devotional fervor as the Swaranjali team rendered soulful bhajans, setting a vibrant and uplifting tone. This was followed by a traditional Guru Paduka procession led by Brahmacharini Jyoti ji, accompanied by sevaks carrying the sacred symbols of the Guru Parampara. The procession was reverentially welcomed with the Purna Kumbha and arati.

In a beautiful offering of devotion, the teachers from both centers presented a graceful dance set to the Amrit Mahotsav anthem, welcoming Gurudev. The audience then stood in respect for the American and Indian National Anthems, followed by the Chinmaya Mission Pledge led by graduating seniors.

The welcome address by Siva ji highlighted Gurudev’s inspiring journey and vision, while Brahmacharini Jyoti ji spoke about the significance and glory of Chapter 15, preparing the audience for the collective chanting.

A particularly memorable segment was the original dance presentation of the Gita Dhyana Shlokas, where young dancers from Atlanta showcased a harmonious blend of Kuchipudi, Odissi, and Bharatanatyam. Set to music by local artists, this performance elevated the entire gathering into a deeply immersive spiritual experience—transforming the space into Kurukshetra, with Bhagwan’s presence almost tangible.

The conch sounds signaling each round of chanting further heightened this atmosphere. The chanting itself, led by winners of the Bhagavad Gita Chanting Competition who had undergone rigorous training, was profoundly powerful. As voices rose in unison through the verses of Chapter 15, the hall resonated with devotion, creating a palpable sense of unity and Gurudev’s graceful presence. Following this, Brahmacharini Aparna ji guided the audience through the Gita Panchamrit verses, offering a brief explanation and leading everyone in collective chanting.

The dignitaries were then felicitated with thoughtfully curated gift bags, presented by the organizing team. The program drew to a devotional close with the chanting of the Gita Aarti and Gurudev Aarti, performed with great reverence by Brahmacharini Jyoti ji and Brahmacharini Aparna ji.

Krishnamurthy ji delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all who contributed to this memorable occasion. As participants dispersed and shared prasad, the air was filled with joy, gratitude, and reflections on the deeply enriching experience.

We offer our heartfelt gratitude to all the sevaks whose tireless efforts and quiet dedication ensured that every aspect of the event reflected excellence and devotion worthy of offering to Gurudev. We also bow in gratitude for the guidance and blessings of Swami Swaroopanandaji, Guruji, and CCMT, whose support made this offering possible.
