Grand Hanuman Chalisa Havan Yajña – CM Boston

Hari OM! Śri Gurubhyoh Namah

By the divine grace & blessings of Shri Maruti Bhagavan and Pujya Gurudev, Chinmaya Maruti (Boston) conducted a beautiful Hanuman Chalisa Havan yajña at our ashram in Andover MA on the morning of May 10, 2026.

It was a blessed opportunity for all of us to celebrate and serve at the 75th anniversary milestone of the Chinmaya Movement, made particularly sweet because the signature event worldwide was the Hanuman Chalisa Havan invoking Lord Hanuman, our deity at Chinmaya Mission Boston.

A grand celebration had been planned over months with several activities designed to give devotees a Bhakti-filled experience of Lord Hanuman and Pujya Gurudev:

  • Seven havan kunds designed to provide 300+ families with a rare opportunity to offer their prayers at a havan while chanting Hanuman Chalisa in the presence of Lord Hanuman and Pujya Gurudev. This was overseen by 5 priests who also performed a Hanuman homam and Drs. Shashi and Gopala Dwarakanath who performed Gurupaduka Puja to Pujya Gurudev’s padukas
  • A 10-foot recreation of Sidhbari Hanuman Ji that instantly evoked the reaction “It’s just like being there” from those who had seen the original!
  • A self-guided informational tour of a gallery of beautiful panels depicting Pujya Gurudev’s incredible life and the history and impact of Chinmaya Mission and its initiatives worldwide
  • A unique dramatization of the first 108 Jñāna Yajñas titled “If I Rest, I Rust”, based on “A 108 Day Pilgrimage with Swami Chinmayananda” by Chinmaya Mission Archives
  • Chanting of Sunderkand at the Maruti sanctum
  • 3+ hours of music and dance performances in the Pavitra Auditorium
  • Felicitation of dignitaries from the community and release of the commemorative souvenir booklet containing nearly 80 pages of essays, poems and artwork by devotees singing the glories of Gurudev, Chinmaya Mission, Bhagavan and Vedanta
  • A hot and delicious prasad lunch cooked on premises by our own sevaks
  • Face painting and henna for kids and adults alike

The ashram was festive with beautiful decorations both inside and outside, including display of artwork by children and a vividly colorful rangoli commemorating the 75th anniversary milestone.

Although it rained most of the prior day all the way up to just a few hours before the havan kunds had to be set up, Lord Hanuman and Pujya Gurudev smiled at our seva performed joyfully with sincere bhakti and blessed us with perfect weather. Over 750 devotees including many non-members attended and performed the havan across four hours with the divine chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa filling the air with peace. By the Lord’s grace, every aspect of the yajña went smoothly and devotees and sevaks alike were full of joy with big smiles and a sense of great contentment from having performed the havan. Many expressed their gratitude for a blissful day of divine love and peace.

May Bhagavan Maruti and Pujya Gurudev’s grace and blessings continue to shower on all!
