12-Hour Akhand Hanuman Chalisa Chanting

On Saturday, January 17th, 2026, with the grace of Lord Hanuman and the blessings of Pujya Gurudev, Chinmaya Maruti (Boston) had a brilliant and auspicious start to the celebration of Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav, the 75th year of the Chinmaya Movement

Dr. Shashi Dwarakanath, the spiritual guide of Chinmaya Maruti, led a 12-hour Akhand Hanuman Chalisa Chanting where she chanted the Chalisa continuously from 8AM to 8PM. The chanting was performed in Lord Hanuman’s presence at the Chinmaya Maruti mandir in Andover, MA with over 160 devotees joining in person over the course of the day. In addition, over 280 devotees joined the chanting via Zoom, including some from Florida, North Carolina and California. With close to 450 people joining in total, the glories of Lord Hanuman were chanted over 4500 times, including 110 times by Shashiji.

The Chinmaya spirit of yajña, sevā and sādhana were palpable throughout the day, as devotees and sevaks came together full of bhakti to make this a blissful reality. Tapas was also on display as it was snowing for much of the day but that did not deter those who had taken the vrata to chant from undertaking the tīrtha to the mandir and join the japa. And to complete the picture, some devotees gave dāna (donation) too.

Sri Maha Vishnu and Sri Lakshmi graced the occasion as well, and we were blessed to witness their abhishekam while the chanting was happening. It is only by the grace of the Lord and the blessings of the Guru that such events are possible and go smoothly.

We sincerely thank the Lord, Pujya Gurudev, and all the participants for making this divine event happen and look forward to an even bigger celebration on May 10th with our Samashti Hanuman Chalisa Havan.
